Production of High Quality Dextrose and Co-products from Lignocellulosic Biomass

Comet Bio is located in Sarnia, Ontario. Comet Bio is transforming the way ingredients are made by developing a technology to convert agricultural residues into high-quality, sustainable ingredients. Comet has developed a novel process to convert cellulosic biomass into high-quality cost competitive cellulosic Dextrose, Hemicellulose Extract and Lignin. This enabling and ground-breaking technology allows manufacturers to have a reliable and consistent source of biomass-based ingredients that can be used directly or converted to value-added end products. Comet through the proposed project is collaborating with Lambton College's Bio-industrial Process Research Centre (BPRC) to carry out standard qualitative and quantitative analysis generated from Comet Biorefining lab trials. Comet Biorefining is also interested in having Lambton College conduct biomass raw material compositional analysis work in an effort to determine potential sugar yields from their conversion technology.The results of the project will help Comet achieve success of this system which requires the ability to secure an ongoing, consistent, and quality supply of agricultural residues to be used as their input material. There is substantial estimated Jobs and Revenue that will be created from the success of this project and full scale plant implementation.
