Camosun College offers over 160 degree, diploma and other credential programs to more than 10,000 full-time, and another 3,000 part-time, students in beautiful Victoria, BC. The college has educated and prepared more than 50,000 graduates to excel in the marketplace in its 40-year history, and has an annual local economic impact of $816.6 million. Vancouver Island's technology sector has grown into a $1.95 billion industry and Camosun College has evolved into a highly successful engineering technology school training quality graduates in electronics, mechanical, civil, environmental and computer systems technologies. Camosun also has a growing connection to the sector in providing faculty expertise and student talent, along with access to engineering technology and precision equipment in support of innovation, research and development. Camosun's Centre for Applied Research and Innovation (CARI) is partnering with Environmental Sensors Inc. (ESI) with a goal to bring new innovative products to market. This new partnership is being supported by a grant from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) to allow Camosun instructors and students to work with ESI staff to design and develop a new profiling moisture probe system. ESI, a local Vancouver Island company, has long promoted the efficient use and conservation of water and is known for its highly accurate and durable moisture probes. ESI are world leaders in moisture sensory instruments and irrigation control systems serving the following industries: oil, agriculture, scientific research, waste management, civil engineering and turf grass management.
