Research on current use of sharing diagnostic imaging and video and integrating the new Google DICOM, a web-based medical imaging viewer to enhance Axon's Vetcare Technologies

Axon Vetcare Technologies (Axon), develops solutions for the horse industry to capture and share medical-grade information, securely and simply between horse owners and care providers. They developed their first main product called Kovo, which is a care collaboration platform. It allows veterinarians, trainers, riders, owners, farriers, and grooms to collaborate on the care of horses. The company's current DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) solution is self-hosted and the maintenance of this platform is very expensive and risky. To address this challenge, Axon will collaborate with WIMTACH to adopt Google DICOM APIs (Application Programming Interfaces), to integrate the OHIF (Open Health Imaging Foundation) open source viewer, and build a conversion layer and will also research on the current use of sharing of diagnostic imaging and video to improve security and performance, lower maintenance and operational costs. Successful completion of the project will help Axon in becoming cost effective, adopting new technology, extending its services and increasing its market share.
