The impact of participant background on ELF interactions in EMI

去年，我终于能够取得一些进展，由于外国交换生返回我们的大学。不幸的是，英语教学班的英语L1学生人数还没有恢复到新冠肺炎前的水平，所以我不得不调整我在完整教室收集录音的计划。我能够在我的机构设计和进行一份关于英语教学班参与者的问卷调查。我正在对这些数据进行分析，希望沿着之前收集的口语交流数据，在秋季和冬季的会议上进行展示。此外，我还参加了一些会议，扩大了对日本EMI相关问题以及在这种情况下使用英语作为弗兰卡的认识。

Last year, I was finally able to make some progress due to the return of foreign exchange students to our university. Unfortunately, the numbers of English L1 students in EMI classes has not returned to pre-COVID times, so I am having to adjust my plans for collecting recordings in intact classrooms.I was able to design and conduct a questionnaire of EMI class participants at my institution. I am currently analysing these data and hope to present it, along with the previously collected spoken interaction data, at conferences in the autumn and winter.I have also been able to attend some conferences and expand my knowledge on issues related to EMI in Japan and the use of English as a lingua franca in such contexts.
