项目摘要

2022年度は、日本とシンガポールの初等・中等教育における宗教教育の在り方について、その歴史的変容を明らかにした。シンガポールについては、独立後から国民のアイデンティティ統制を強化するに至った1980年代と、シチズンシップ教育としての宗教教育が重視され始めた1990年代以降という二つの時代区分のもとで、それぞれの時期において宗教および宗教教育に求められた役割、宗教教育が重視された背景、その具体的教育内容の変容について明らかにした。特に、1980年代に導入された「宗教知識科」（Religious Knowledge）と、その廃止に伴って1990年代に新たに導入された「市民・道徳教育」（Civics and Moral Education）、2000年以降の全人教育の見直しにより「市民・道徳教育」に代わって導入された「人格・市民性教育」（Character and Citizenship Education）のそれぞれの導入背景とその具体的な内容を検証することで、教育内容の歴史的変容を明らかにすることができた。日本については、戦前、戦後から2006年の教育基本法改正まで、教育基本法改正以降という三つの時代区分のもとで、それぞれの時期において特に公立学校において求められた宗教教育の在り方とその背景、そしてその教育内容の変容について、主に各種会議における議論、学習指導案、教科書の分析をもとに検証した。特に、教育基本法改正論議において、「宗教に関する一般的教養」を尊重するに至った経緯や論理を紐解くことで、現在の日本における宗教教育に見いだされる問題点と今後の課題を浮き彫りにすることが出来た。また、両国の宗教教育の歴史的変容を比較することで、これまで大きく三つに分類されてきた宗教教育、すなわち「宗派教育」、「宗教的情操教育」、「宗教知識教育」という分類には収まらない、新たな宗教教育が求められることが明らかとなった。

A comparison of the contents of religious education history in China and the United States is made between religious education, sectarian education, religious sentiment education and religious knowledge education.
