本年度は、コロナ禍ならびにそれに起因すると思われる研究代表者の体調不良によって実施が延期されていた実証調査を行った。「サードプレイス」に焦点を当てて、それが被援助要請（行動）、援助行動、幸福度、精神的健康、孤独感に与える影響を明らかにすることを企図した調査となる。調査はオンライン調査として（株）インテージに委託した。同社にモニター登録している近畿地方（大阪府，京都府，兵庫県，奈良県，和歌山県，滋賀県，三重県）在住の15歳から79歳の者を対象に、2023年2月10日から2月13日まで行われた。有効回答数は744である。調査に関する説明はインターネット上の画面で行い，開始ボタンを押すことでアンケートが開始された。また、インターネット上での調査であり、参加の有無、途中辞退、実施時間など本人の自由意志に基づき実施された。実証調査をオンライン調査にした理由としては、コロナ禍の影響が引き続きある中でセーフティにスピーディに行われることを優先した意図がまずはある。オンライン・モニター調査においては、先行研究より「サンプルの偏り」や「違反回答の多さ」などの問題が指摘されてきている。しかしながら、訪問調査も同様に偏ることがNPO先行研究でも指摘されていることや、委託会社のデータチェック済であることなどから、本調査結果は信頼性があると判断した。調査回答者は男女の割合はほぼ半々となっており、また年齢層も偏り無く調査している。年齢の平均値は47.6歳であり中央値は49である。回答者の婚姻関係は54.6%が結婚しており、45.4%が結婚していなかった。回答者の職業は会社員が最も多く、全体の24.9%であった。次いで無職が15.5%、パート・アルバイトが13.2％、専業主婦・専業主夫が12.8%となっている。学生は11.8%となる。
