第29回IGCのテ-マである「地球の起源から人類の生存まで」の内容にふさわしい科学プログラムを編成する為、プログラム運営委員会、代表委員会、及び全体委員会を会計5回開催し、以下の作業を行った。1。セカンドサ-キュラ-発行以後に提案された科学プログラムのシンポジウム、ワ-クショップ、ショ-トコ-ス等の追加・変更を検討し、その是非を決定した。2。組織委員会に送付されてきた約5400編のアブストラクトを代表委員が査続し、その採否を決定した。但し1991年12月以前に採否を決定する必要のあるものについては、東大地質学教室のスタッフが査続を行って採否を決定し、著者にその通知を発送した。3。採択されたアブストラクトの内容に基づきセッションを選定し、それぞれのセッションのコンビ-ナ-にアブストラクトを送付し、講演順序の決定、口頭セッション・ポスタ-セッションの区別を依頼した。4。採択された各セッッシン毎のアブストラクト数に基づき、セッションの統合、キャンセル、あるいは2コマのセッションにするか否かの決定を行った。最終的に決定されたセッションの総数は230である。5。コンビ-ナ-から戻された各セッションのプログラムを集約し、IGCのテ-マを構成する特別セッションの流れに沿うように、また会場の部屋の数・サイズを考慮し、全体プログラムを編成した。科学セッションの行われる8日間、17会場において口頭発表が行われる。6。サ-ドサ-キュラ-、講演プログラム、及びアブストラクト集の編集方針を決定した。サ-ドサ-キュラ-には、各セッションの開催される日時・会場を、また6月末または7月初めに送付する講演プログラムには、全セッションの講演者、講演タイトル及び講演順序を掲載する。
