奨励研究(A)は1年間の補助金であり,私がこの期間内に達成できたことは外国人児童生徒の定期的な観察である。すなわち,浜松市と静岡市に在住の小・中学校に通う外国人児童生徒を長期的にまた短期的に調査観察することができた。浜松市の場合,私がおおよそ1週間に1度小学校に出向き,彼らの日本語能力の発達を縦断的に調査した。静岡市の場合もほぼ同様で,1週間に1度,小学校に赴きデータ収集を行なうことができた。言語能力調査方法は2つに分類される。一つは絵カードなどを使い,インタビュー形式での発話テストである。各人1回60分程度を考えている。これを毎回テープ録音し分析する。もう一つはペーパーテストに基づくテストである。調査の内容は第2言語としての日本語の初期発達段階である。格助詞並びに語連鎖の獲得に最も焦点を絞っている。調査結果により,興味深い発見も多々見つかってはいるが,観察は現在もなお引き続いて行なわれているため,データ分析や論文の形にまとめるには,もう少し時間が必要である。今後の予定として,データ分析を1995年の夏休み前までに終了し,秋には各種学会や紀要等に研究結果を発表して行きたいと考えている。
