Field surveys were done from 2000 to 2002 in 21cities, namely Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Haerbin, Shenyang, Changchun, Dalian, Qingdao, Hong Kong, Macao, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Phnompenh, Yangon, Seoul, Taipei, Jakarta and Bandung. The knowkdges acquired there are as in the following.1. The quantity of the existing buildings of Art Deco style in a city is not so related to which country colonized the city. The cities colonized by France certainly have typical Art Deco buildings. But every city has many buildings of the style, and the quantity of the existing buildings of the style is principally related to the level of construction activity in the 1920s and 1930s of the city.2. These buildings of the style are designed by architects of France, Great Britain, Netherlands, Japan, China and Korea. It means mat Art Deco style influenced architects of every country. We find widely Art Deco design in non famous and ordinary buildings whose architects are unknowrt It indicates that Art Deco style is not peculiar to some specific country or city and is the product of the age itself.3. These are several remarkable districts where Art Deco style buildings exist intensively. These are Jl Braga and Jl. Asia Afrika in Bandung Dong Khoi St. in Ho Chi Minh City, Jln. Tuanku Abdul Rahmun in Kuaka Lumpur, Bogyoke Aung San St. in Yangon, Xinmin St. in Changchun, Jie Fang North Rd in Tianjin, and Rachadamnoen Nok Rd in Bangkok constructed in 1940s though. These districts are regarded as centra strico of the style Art Deco.
