本年度は大学院における研究を総括すると同時に、今後の研究活動に向けて布石を打った。まず総括であるが、研究代表者は博士論文「『戦後日中民間人道外交』の史的考察--1950年代を中心として」を完成させ、2006年3月、博士号(政治学)を取得した。同論文は、戦後初期に国交不在であった日中両国の民間団体を交渉主体として、「人道」という建前の下で解決が目指された「人道問題」(当時、日中両国政府は新中国成立後まで残された、(1)在華邦人問題、(2)在華日本人「戦犯」問題、(3)在日華僑問題、(4)中国人俘虜殉難者遺骨問題などの「戦後処理」問題を「人道問題」と表現した)をめぐる日中民間外交の具体的な展開を検討したものである。かかる日中民間外交の展開に関する分析を通じて研究代表者は、当時国家が処理し得なかった「戦後処理」問題を、かかる民間交渉を通じて日中両国がいかにして処理したのかを明らかにすると同時に、これらの「人道問題」解決過程の全体像を理解するために「戦後日中民間人道外交」という新たな分析枠組みを提示している。当時、中国政府は冷戦外交の文脈において対日外交の戦略目標として日米離間、あるいは日本「中立化」を目指していたが、いわゆる「戦後日中民間人道外交」については、中国共産党の伝統といわれる「革命的人道主義」に源泉を持つとされ、肯定的に評価されてきた。だが、中国政府主導の「戦後日中民間人道外交」における対日「浸透」という外交戦略的な側面を膨大な日本側公文書に依拠して描き出した同論文は、戦後初期中国の対日外交の源泉を考察する上で不可欠な事例研究になると考えられ、加えて、現在、日本各地で提起されている中国残留日本人の早期帰国実施義務をめぐる日本政府の責任問題を議論するための学術的基礎を提供するものとなる。なお、今後への布石としては、2005年12月に中国外交部档案(公文書)調査を実施した。1950年代前半時期の関係文書を獲得することができ、さらに研究を展開させる基礎を整えた。
