项目摘要

戦前までの中等教育における美術教育は基本的に男女別に行なわれ、その目的・方法・内容等に渡って男女の美術教育は差異が設けられていた。このことは男女別学教育による必然的結果であると言える。その中で、女子教育では美術教育は「美術」という教科だけでなく包括的な女性の表現活動を想定した教科の連関が図られていたと考えられる。戦後の教科編成において「家庭科」が教科として成立し、「美術」は基本的に男女共学を想定した教科となり、手芸的表現活動は女子の美術から家庭科へと移行する。以上の問題について、本研究は美術と家庭科という教科の枠組みを通して、「手芸」という女性の表現活動をめぐる政治学を明らかにすることによって、近現代の教育システムに内在するジェンダー規範を顕在化することを目指すものである。今年度の研究活動の中心は、戦前までの女子の美術教育の枠組みを明確にすることにあり、二つの点で大きな成果があがった。第一に、学校教育と並行して行われた家庭における美術教育として、女子のための洋画塾を例にとりこれまでの調査結果をまとめ、論文として刊行した。第二に、学校教育における図画教育で中心的教材となる教科書、特に戦前まで存在していた女子用図画教科書の調査を行い、その成果を学会にて報告の上、論文として刊行した。これらの調査研究は、これまで学会内においてもほとんど論じられることのなかった女子の美術教育に関する基礎的な研究としての意義を持ち、男女両方に関する歴史史料の蓄積の必要性と先行研究におけるジェンダーの視点の欠如を指摘した点において美術教育史・美術史両領域において重要であると考える。
