交付期間で、新規転写因子PROP1の特異抗体を作製し、下垂体の発生過程における発現変動を解析し、PROP1が発生初期の下垂体の全細胞に存在し、その後ホルモン産生細胞の出現に伴いその数を減じることを初めて明らかにした。しかも、PROP1陽性細胞は常に細胞分化に重要な因子SOX2と共存する事も初めて明らかした。さらに、新規の転写因子PRX2の同様な解析を行い、PROP1-PRX2-下垂体の分化細胞と言う系譜の一端を明らかにした。
