メタボリックシンドロームにより惹起される動脈硬化症を予防・治療するために、動脈硬化形成に関与する細胞群の各種機能調節作用を有する生薬を網羅的に探索し、有効性が見出された生薬より新規漢方方剤を創製した。本方剤は、動脈硬化モデルマウスにおいて病変形成を抑制する作用を示し、今後さらに、構成生薬の組合せ、用量等を検討することにより、動脈硬化症の予防・治療に優れた効果を持った漢方方剤を創製できる可能性が示された。
