ミトコンドリアを介したアポトーシスの決定因子として知られるBcl-2ファミリータンパク質の中でアポトーシスを抑制するBcl-xLに特異的に結合する低分子化合物BH3I-2'の4つの類似化合物[^<18>F]FBHI、[^<18>F]FBHB、[^<18>F]FBMI、[^<18>F]FBMBの^<18>F標識合成を行い、Bcl-xLのin vivoイメージングを試みた結果、梗塞やガンの状態の評価法、それら治療の評価法、さらにはそれらの治療に用いる治療薬、抗ガン剤の評価法としての有用性が示唆された。
