生体の調節・維持において数多くの生理活性ペプチドが重要な役割を果たしている。本研究では、新たな生体調節機構の解明を目的として、新規生理活性ペプチドの探索を試みた。この結果、翻訳後修飾により33もしくは36アミノ酸残基にて産生される新規ペプチドの同定に成功した。また、ラット脳室内への投与実験により新規ペプチドのプロラクチン分泌促進活性を示し、このペプチドが関与する新しい生体調節機構の存在を示唆することができた。
