Analysis of shiga-toxin resistance systemin enterohemorrhagic E. coli

肠出血性大肠杆菌志贺毒素（Stx）的主要毒力因子，通过去纯化28S rRNA的特定腺嘌呤残基来抑制宿主细胞的蛋白质合成。大肠杆菌K-12也因Stx的引入和表达而表现出生长缺陷。然而，O157菌株对Stx具有抗性。本研究通过对具有Stx对K-12抗性的O157 fosmid克隆的分析，确定了O157基因组中与Stx抗性相关的三个基因组区域。

Major virulence factor of enterohemorrhagic E. coliis shiga toxin (Stx) which inhibits protein synthesis of the host cell by depurinating a specific adenine residue of 28S rRNA. The E. coli K-12 also exhibits growth defect by introduction and expression of Stx. However O157 strain is resistant to Stx. In this study, from the analysis of O157 fosmid clones which confer Stx resistance to K-12, three genomic regions of O157 genome related to the Stx resistance were identified.
