项目摘要

2019年度においては、2018年度の研究を引き継ぎながら、以下の二点をめぐる研究を行った。まず第一に、『方法序説』において提示された「暫定道徳（morale par provision）」の再解釈である。「暫定道徳」とは不完全でありまた晩年に語られる「最高で完全な道徳」とは断絶をもったものとして解釈されることが研究史上の定石であった。しかし、本研究では、以上のような定説に疑義を呈し、「智恵」の最高の段階として語られる「最高で完全な道徳」という構想の中にこそ、「暫定道徳」を置きいれるべきであると説得的に示したのである。このように、「最高で完全な道徳」の構想は、初期から一貫して見出すことができるのであり、デカルトは実践においてもよく判断できる主体を作り上げ、各々の判断を行使したその帰結において、幸福を獲得しようとしていたのである。この意味でデカルトは、明証的な知を探究することで絶えず「変容」し、「至福」に至らんとするのである。他方で、デカルトにおける「心身の合一」という概念も注目され、そして、この「合一（union）」という概念の内に留まることで、「至福」を見出そうとするデカルトの姿も指摘された。つまり、この「合一」という概念は、知性によっては明証的なものとはならず、あくまでも「日々の生活と会話」において、「感覚」を行使することによってはじめて明証的なものとなるのであり、デカルトはいわば「生活世界」に立ち返ることで、「幸福」を獲得しようとしていたのである。このように、デカルトは知性に訴え「変容」するだけでなく、感覚の昏さの内に「微睡み」その中において幸福を得ようとしていたのである。このように、本年度の研究によって、「変容」と「微睡み」という両者を軸に据え、デカルトの著作を一貫して読み解こうとする試みが切り開かれたのである。
