This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The objective of the Administrative Core is to provide administrative and fiscal support for all activities of the Pacific Research Center for Early Human Development (PRCEHD or Center). Under the direction of Kenneth Ward, MD, the Administrative core will facilitate establishment of laboratories, acquisition of equipment, staff and other resources, coordinating with the PI and the Internal Advisory Committee (IAC) to ensure that operations run smoothly. The Administrative Core will support management of the proposed research program, and will actively seek opportunities to further build research capacity in early human development research. By maintaining compliance with all applicable, federal and state guidelines and University of Hawai`i regulations, the Administrative Core will ensure that all PRCEHD activities take place within an environment that meets and exceeds applicable standards for research. This will include review of ethical and scientific issues to foster research that is scientifically rigorous and ethically acceptable. The Administrative Core will foster direct communication between the Dean of the John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) and the PRCEHD to ensure that the Center forges ahead in a direction that is consistent with JABSOM¿s long-term goals. In addition, the Administrative Core will serve as a link between all cores, and all entities involved, including JABSOM's Molecular Endocrinology Laboratory, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Women¿s Health (JABSOM Ob/Gyn), the Department of Pediatrics, the Clinical Research Center (CRC), the Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children (KMCWC), the Institute of Biogenesis Research (IBR), The University of Utah Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (Utah Ob/Gyn), and the Community (Collectively, the Partners). The Administrative Core will facilitate communications and meetings to enable the Center's Partners, investigators, mentors and staff to collaborate efficiently and effectively in accomplishing the Center's goals. In sum, the Administrative Core will provide support for coordination, planning, implementation and evaluation of all Center activities.
