This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The Ressler lab is focused on the molecular and cellular mechanisms of fear learning and the process of extinction of fear in mouse models. The Ressler lab has used the power of molecular genetics to begin to understand the molecular biology, the neural circuitry, and the behavioral biology of fear and extinction of fear in mouse models. Within the last year this work has led to the likely successful receipt of an R01 for the Ressler lab (3% scored at study section), entitled ¿The Molecular Regulation of GABA(A) Function in Amygdala¿ through NIDA, as well as the presentation of multiple abstracts and publication of multiple manuscripts.
