APPLICATIONS OF MALDI ON MDS-SCIEX QSTAR XL WITH OMALDI SOURCE

This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The oMALDI source on the QSTAR XL should function in a complementary mode to the usual ESI source used with this instrument. It is the intent of this project to study the relative merits of this source compared with that used with the MALDI TOF TOF with the goals of defining the comparative nature and quality of fragmentation and sensitivity. A somewhat different aspect will focus on an assessment of this system for mapping molecular weight profiles of tissue slices. The effect of use of different matrices and sample loading techniques will be an important consideration.
