英文摘要
This is a competing renewal of the Colorado Specialized Center of Research Excellence (CO-SCORE) on Sex
Differences, which has a thematic focus on Bioenergetic and Metabolic Consequences of the Loss of Gonadal
Function. The overarching scientific goal of the CO-SCORE is to advance knowledge of the impact of
gonadal aging on the regulation of bioenergetics, abdominal adiposity, metabolism, and disease risk by
conducting mechanistically driven research across the basic-to-clinical translational spectrum. The
overarching educational goal is to engage new investigators in research aligned with the thematic focus of
the CO-SCORE. The Leadership Administrative Core (LAC) will provide the infrastructure to allow scientific
and educational goals to be accomplished in the most effective manner. The LAC objectives are: 1) provide
scientific leadership for a translational and transdisciplinary research program focused on the consequences of
the loss of gonadal function;; 2) critically evaluate the progress and productivity of the CO-SCORE Research
Projects and, if necessary, make decisions about the reallocation of resources;; 3) foster collaboration among
the CO-SCORE Research Projects, Pilot Projects, SCORE Scholars, faculty, and support personnel, 4)
promote the generation of new translational research opportunities related to the thematic focus of the CO-
SCORE through the Career Enhancement Core awards;; 5) integrate activities of the CO-SCORE with closely
aligned Centers and Programs at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, including the Center
on Aging, the Center for Women’s Health Research, the Colorado Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute,
the Nutrition and Obesity Research Center, the Building Interdisciplinary Research Careers in Women’s Health
Program, the Women's Reproductive Health Research Program, and multiple T32 grants;; 6) expand interest in
the thematic focus of the CO-SCORE within the University community and nationally through its influential
Advisory Board members;; 7) provide statistical, data management and formal evaluation (quantitative and
qualitative) support for the CO-SCORE Research Projects and Pilot Projects;; and 8) provide administrative
support for financial oversight, regulatory oversight, and scheduling and general management of all CO-
SCORE activities. Because the members of the Executive Committee and the Internal Advisors hold
leadership positions on important committees, boards, centers and training grants, they will facilitate the
expansion of research related to the CO-SCORE and elevate its scientific influence locally and nationally. An
innovative aspect of the LAC is the plan to develop a new instrument, the Sex as a Biological Variable (SABV)
Research Orientation Rubric, to support an objective assessment of whether SABV considerations are evident
in CO-SCORE research questions, specific aims, research designs, sampling frames, and analysis plans.
