项目摘要
PROJECT SUMMARY/ABSTRACT
This existing T32 Training Program in Pediatric Rheumatic Disease Research at the Cincinnati
Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) seeks additional support for a new trainee whose
research is focused on pain. The candidate trainee selected for this T32-postion is Danielle
Schocken, MD, who is currently a 3rd year fellow in the Pediatric Rheumatology Fellowship program
at CCHMC. Dr. Schocken has developed a strong interest in pediatric pain research that has been
the main theme of her fellowship project. She has a strong desire to continue this project under the
mentorship of Dr. Susmita Kashikar-Zuck, PhD, who is a Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of
Psychology at CCHMC and Associate Director of the Pediatric Pain Research Center. Her research
in pediatric pain has been continuously funded by the NIH since 2000. Dr. Schocken’ s main project
will be focused on understanding of discordance between patients and their providers when the pain
of juvenile idiopathic arthritis is being assessed. If funded, Dr. Schocken will be well-equipped to
achieve the aims of her project and successfully complete the associated training plan in pain
research owing to the existing NIAMS T32 infrastructure, training activities at the Pediatric Pain
Research Center and the expertise of the primary pain research mentor.
