This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. In this study the investigators will test the hypothesis that the neurovascular response to hypoxia is altered in obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). The investigators will measure the effects of 10 minutes of acute hypoxia on muscle sympathetic nerve activity (neural vasoconstrictor signal), vasodilator and vasoconstrictor factors released in the interstitium and limb blood flow in patients with OSA and in controls.
