I am applying for funds to purchase an urgently needed ultra cold freezer in support of my NSERC-funded research. The proposed ultra cold -80 freezer is essential for my research which is centered on the study of integrated neuroendocrine control of growth and reproduction, using goldfish as experimental model. Emphasis is placed on the physiological role of gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH), in the regulation of gonadal development and pituitary gonadotropin (GTH) and growth hormone (GH) secretion and gene expression.  In this proposal I am requesting funds to purchase a large capacity Ultra-Low Temperature Freezer for reliable storage of our samples. All students and PDFs use cellular, molecular and biochemical approach to investigate physiological questions, in vitro and in vivo. Experiments generate a large number of samples for storage as well as many expensive chemicals that need to be stored at -80 oC.
