英文摘要
Business Intelligence (BI) systems for transit are new initiatives designed to improve the value of the data that transit agencies receive from deployed ITS technologies by generating near real-time and user-friendly dashboard reports which clearly and intuitively depict key transit performance indicators at a low marginal cost. BI systems require innovative approaches to combine, mine and analyze the massive amounts of data and transform them into a set of meaningful and timely metrics. To date, BI systems are still at their infancy stage, and more research and development effort is required to help mature those systems. The purpose of the proposed project is to develop and pilot test a BI system to enable transit agencies with ITS deployments to investigate the benefits of data-based decision making through the use of dynamic dashboard reports covering a multitude of operational-reporting needs (e.g. route performance and schedule adherence) and organizational-reporting needs (e.g. revenue service hours, etc.). The ability of agencies to monitor, assess, and account for dynamic conditions in a timely manner would allow for increased system efficiency, thus reducing operating costs for a given level of system performance.
