Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have shown great potential in civilian, military and security applications. The trend for the use of UAV technology in commercial aerial surveillance is expanding rapidly with increased development of automated object detection and tracking approaches. Kytron Technology Corporation is a private company in Ontario delivers high-quality intelligent video devices, as well as services and solutions to their customers. Currently engineers at Kytron are working on the applications of their intelligent video devices and services to different areas, including a vision-based aerial surveillance system. Through this project, a highly-reliable, highly-accurate automatic object/motion detection and tracking system will be developed to enable the commercial aerial surveillance.
