Sheridan College's Screen Industries Research and Training Centre (SIRT) will work with Niagara Falls-based partner Marion Surgical to combine several new and emerging technologies to prototype a virtual reality surgical simulation and training metaverse platform. The platform will allow for immersive real-time collaboration and utilize existing character pipelines to generate realistic and diverse avatars with greater accessibility through reduced hardware and application delivery costs. International surgical professionals will be enabled to train students around the globe at a low hardware cost. With the creation of this platform, Marion Surgical will be able to expand their existing simulators as a metaverse to collaborate with international partners and healthcare experts.
