Sheridan College's Screen Industries Research and Training Centre (SIRT) is proposing to work with partner Quantum Capture Inc. to prototype tools aimed at simplifying the latest hardware and software tools for the creation of real-time, digital human performances. This project will integrate existing tools and technologies, created for use by developers in the complex Unreal Editor environment, into a standalone prototype digital performance application that will provide non-technical users with a simple, cost-effective means of creating high-fidelity, real-time digital human performances. An existing proof-of-concept, developed by SIRT and Quantum Capture, will be improved and extended based on new research and testing as well as existing end-user testing. The developed application will enable Quantum Capture to significantly expand their client base by supporting new modes of expression for content creators of all kinds while also allowing for more engaging communication in a professional context. Finally, knowledge gained related to new performance capture tools and technologies will be critical to Quantum Captures continued business success and will support SIRT's accumulation of industry-focused technology adoption expertise.
