Theoretical and Empirical Studies on Sourcing Strategy of Information Systems and Inter-firm Alliances

该项目对信息系统(IS)采购战略和企业间联盟进行了理论和实证研究。一般来说，信息系统外包有两种典型模式：(1)传统外包--与供应商签订合同；(2)准外包--建立自己的信息系统子公司。在本项目中，分析了信息系统外包的现状，并从统计上揭示了信息系统外包模式差异的特点。然后，我们考察了影响IS外包模式选择的各种因素，并提取了对采用准外包有显著影响的变量，以找出IS外包与其决定因素之间的关系。此外，基于我们对日本企业的原始问卷调查，检验了交易成本经济学(TCE)和资源基础观(RBV)相结合的框架的有效性。

The project treated the theoretical and empirical studies on sourcing strategy of information systems (IS) and inter-firm alliances. In general, there are two typical patterns of IS outsourcing : (1) conventional outsourcing -a contract with a vendor and (2) quasi-outsourcing -setting up their own IS subsidiary. In this project, the current state of IS outsourcing was analyzed, and a characteristic feature based on the difference of patterns of IS outsourcing was revealed statistically. Then, we examined various factors that influences the selection of patterns of IS outsourcing, and extracted the variables that have a significant influence on the adoption of quasi-outsourcing in order to find the relationship between the IS outsourcing and its determinants. Furthermore, the effectiveness of combined framework of transaction cost economics (TCE) and the resource-based view (RBV) was examined based on our original questionnaire survey of Japanese firms.
