项目摘要
This project studies higher-level abstractions for constructing distributedsystems that integrate information and computation across administrative andtrust domains. Current practice does not offer general, principled techniquesfor implementing these systems securely. To develop these techniques, fundamental problems of security, consistency, performance, and systemevolution are being explored. Problems studied include automatic, adaptive, secure partitioning of programs and data across the nodes of a distributedsystem; new authorization logics for efficiently managing trustrelationships in a distributed system; new methods for increasingperformance of distributed systems while guaranteeing strong dataconsistency; and new ways to securely and consistently evolve the structureof persistent information. These topics are being studied in the context of Fabric, a new platform forsecure distributed computation. Fabric is intended to support secureintegration of information systems, a valuable capability for many applicationdomains, including in medicine, finance, education, government, and themilitary. For example, good methods for integrating distributed informationsystems would support secure sharing of medical records between institutions.

Fabric旨在支持信息系统的安全集成,这是许多应用领域的一种宝贵能力,包括医学、金融、教育、政府和主题。 例如,整合分布式信息系统的好方法将支持机构之间医疗记录的安全共享。
