项目摘要

本研究は,インド言語哲学における意味表示理論の中での重要な一説の一つであるスポータ論の発展過程を,各種の文献中のスポータ論関連部分を抽出し,比較検討することにより,解明することを目指すものであった.関連資料の集成については,それらの資料を電子テキスト化することにより,相互の対照を容易にすることとした.本研究によって,そのスポータ論関連部分が電子テキスト化された文献は,次のものである.Vakyapadiya,Mahabhasyadipika,Mahabhasya,Sphotavada,Sphotanirnaya,Slokavarttika,Sphotasiddhi,Tattvabindu,Vyomavati,Nyayakandali,Nyayamanjari,Yogabhasya,Tattvavaisaradi,Brahmasutrasankarabhasya,Prameyakamaramarttanda,Manameyodaya,Nitiattvavirbhava.これらの電子テキストを利用して,スポータ論に関する基本的な議論の枠組みを検討した.それから得られた結論は,次の通りである.スポータ論あるいは「スポータ」という語は,パタンジャリの『マハーバーシャ』に既に見いだされるが,それ以降のスポータ理論発展過程のおいては,スポータ論の枠組みが整備された時期,あるいは,大きく転換された時期がある.すなわち,後代の文献においては,スポータを論じる際の学派を問わない共通の枠組みがあるのであるが,それらは,バルトリハリの著作には少なくとも直接的には議論の対象とはされていないものである.そして,その共通の枠組みは,今回の研究で扱った資料の範囲内では,クマーリラの『シュローカヴァールッティカ』に最初に見いだされるものである.したがって,クマーリラによって,あるいは,バルトリハリとクマーリラの間で,スポータ論の基本的な枠組み,用語法が整理された,ということができると思われる.今後の課題としては,後代の文献に見られるスポータ論の基本的な枠組みが,バルトリハリにも跡付けることができるか,という点に関して,さらなる考察が必要である.また,クマーリラ以降の資料に関して,より詳細な議論の整理が必要であると思われる.
