1.音声語によるコミュニケーションが困難な重度障害児、特に最重度精神遅滞児や無言語の広汎性発達障害(自閉性障害)児の絵記号による意思伝達方法に関しては、なお問題が多く、いっそうのパイロット的研究を必要としている。本研究で使用した絵記号(弘前大学PSL-88)は、対象のコピーではなく、それとわかる程度に、単純な輪郭線で象った象形文字に近い、ある程度抽象化された絵記号で、いまだ部分的に改変を繰り返し、試作の途上にある。2.訓練は、具体物と絵記号(色、形、事物、人物など)カードとを単一に利用することから始めて、さらに多肢選択法、見本合わせ法によって複数絵記号カード(ピクトグラム)中から適切カードを選択し配列することで、視覚的イメージによる理解が可能であるか否かについて検討した。3.(1)重度精神遅滞児の場合、ポインティングができ、3原色と円・三角・四角形との弁別が可能な水準では、比較的小数回の訓練試行により、否定文と命令文の理解と実行、かんたんな絵記号文の配列・構成において課題達成がみられ、パソコンのタッチ・パネルを利用した試験的学習系列にも適応し、成功的であった。(2)これらの方法・手続きは、かんたんな動作的指示理解が出来る水準にあれば、最重度精神遅滞児においても可能である。(3)自閉性障害児では、ほぼ8カ月、35回にわたる訓練の範囲では、刺激定位や選択行動の条件付けに多数試行を要し、容易ではなかったが、6カ月ほどで、単純な事象系列の認知と平叙文再構成課題の成就が見いだされるようになった。しかし、自発的絵記号文の記憶再生までには至らず、パソコン学習系列については、タッチ・パネルの図絵の指さし訓練を目下継続中である。
