本研究の最終年度に当たり、研究成果を集約して発表する論文を作成することを目指していたが、積年の研究テーマである十字架のヨハネに関する研究書を刊行する作業と重なり、初期の目標が実行できなかったことは遺憾である。しかし神秘主義概念の形成史に関しては、以下のような見通しを固めることができた。神秘主義概念の形成については、次の三つの時代が重要な画期をなす。(1)古代後期:キリスト教において、教義の核心を指す言葉として「神秘(mysterium)」の語が導入される。(2)中世末期〜近世初期:スコラ学的理性による合理的思弁よりも超理性的直観ないし情念的個人経験に基づく多彩な言説が産出され、それが「神秘神学(theologia mystica)」の名のもとに一括されて、或る自立性を獲得する。(3)十九世紀後半〜二十世紀前半:とくに「神秘体験(mystical experience)」概念を中心にした宗教現象としての「神秘主義(mysticism)」が、ヒンドゥー教の一元論思想を典型に、キリスト教の枠をこえた宗教学的術語として成立し、古今東西の宗教や哲学の核心に神秘体験を見る態度が流行する。((4)但し、こうした傾向は神秘主義概念の一種のインフレーションを生み、またこの語が宗教学のみならずこれに影響された宗教家自身によっても使用され、また通俗的にも頻用されるようになるに及んで、現在では学問的概念としての有効性を喪失しつつある。)この見通しについての議論は、上記の著書の随所でも開陳した(とくにI-4章、III-1、3章)。また、昨年九月の日本宗教学会でのパネル討論では、近代日本での神秘主義理解の一典型として、西谷啓治の神秘主義研究の意義について研究発表した。同じく東京大学文学部の講義では、近代日本における上記(3)の意味での神秘主義受容の経過を論じた。これらの成果は、より詳細な検討を交えて、今後随時発表していく予定である。

(3) from the second half of the 19th century to the first half of the 20th century: the center of the concept of "mystical experience": the concept of "mysticism", the core of religious philosophy in ancient and modern times, and the popularity of religion in ancient and modern times. (4) however, to the concept of mysticism, there is a concept of mysticism, the concept of religion, religion, religion.) Through the discussion and discussion, we will open the seminar with the company (Chapter 4, III-1, Chapter 3). Last September, the Japanese religious Society held a discussion on the understanding of mystical subjectivism in modern Japan, and the meaning of the study of mystical subjectivism in Seiji Nisegawa. In the literature department of Peking University, it means that the mysterious patriarchal tolerance has been accepted through discussion. We will review the results and submit them in due course. In the future, we will make sure that the results will be released in advance.
