当初の目的である「逆問題を数理的に解析し、数学的構造を明らかにする」ことについて、次の4つの成果を得ることができた。(1)複素積分を使った新しい弾性波の表示法を開発できた。(2)弾性体の等方性への摂動に対する影響をRayleigh波について具体的に調べることができた。(3)弾性体のある逆問題に関する数値計算法を開発できた。(4)波動のエネルギー減衰について、新しい評価式を得ることができた。しかしながら、研究開始当初の目的の一部については、期待通りの結果を得るところには至らなかった。
