The Centre for Alternative Wastewater Treatment (CAWT) at Fleming College, in Lindsay, Ontario, is an internationally recognized research institute committed to excellence in applied research and education. The CAWT is highly regarded for its advanced research facilities and has the following objectives: 1) knowledge creation through the development of innovative water and wastewater technologies; 2) application and commercialization through knowledge and technology development; 3) applied learning and training through student involvement and technical training; and 4) collaboration through private and public sector partnerships resulting in community and economic development. Applied research services offered include proof of concept, performance measurement and third party verification, technology certifications, product and process applied research, engineering design, technology development, piloting and demonstration, and problem-solving. The CAWT has expertise in a wide range of water and wastewater technologies, platforms, and services. We work with small, medium, and large sized businesses on their applied research and innovation needs, allowing them to become more competitive, expand their businesses, and achieve economic success as Canadian businesses in the water sector. The replacement of older analytical equipment, including an ICP OES and IC dedicated to anion analysis, as well as the acquisition of a glassware washer, will greatly enhance efficiency and expand the capacity of the CAWT to do water quality analyses required for applied research activities taking place at the college in collaboration with the private sector partners and other partners in government and academia.
