Development and evaluation of a forest mapping solution based on multispectral laser scanning

DroneXperts is a pioneer enterprise in integrating drones in civil applications, e.g. providing specialized andcertified training, delivering drone-mapping services, and offering drone-related sensors and products. Withthis regard, DroneXperts is strongly interested in providing accurate yet cost-efficient laser-scanning solutionsfor forest and woodland inventory. Geo-localizing individual trees and characterizing them, and identifying theforest understory have great values in many forestry sectors. Using an active, multi-return, multispectralairborne ranging system, these tasks can be significantly simplified. In this project, CGQ will evaluate amulti-spectral, LiDAR integrated system onboard a drone with an oblique viewpoint for 3D mapping of forests'top canopy and understory. The solutions that will be developed in this project will allow the company to solveits problem regarding providing efficient and cost-effective service to the forestry sector. This solution isunique in the current state-of-the-art in the sense that it integrates multispectral imagery, ranging, and visualartificial intelligence for forestry applications.
