Multi-sensor wood-package tracking in lumber yards

PMP Solutions Inc is an expert in developing software solutions to transform the way that sawmills coordinate their machines, staff, and operations via real-time management of production performance, scheduling, and inventory. One of the essential aspects of inventory management is tracking wood products while they are undergoing various processes. Currently, tracking methods are mainly product oriented; that is, markers of various sort (active or passive) are installed on wood packages, and handheld readers are used to check the packages as they move in the lumber yard and in between the factory buildings. These methods require time-consuming, labor-intensive, error-prone, manual operations, which can also risk the operators' safety. With this regard, CGQ will assist PMP Solutions via this project to increase the autonomy and accuracy of wood-package tracking using multiple visual, inertial and positioning sensors combined with advanced geospatial analytics.
