Life style is a major factor influencing health status.causing. To prevent diseases such asobesity, hypertension, and diabetes, proper way of living including meal, environmental temperature, resting manner should be suggested by medical professional. However, little information is available on this issue at present. The purpose of the present study is to establish a experimental model for studying the proper life style to prevent disease and to promote the health. Wistar rats was anesthetized with pentobarbital sodium (50 mg/kg ip), and arterial and venous catheters were inserted into the right femoral artery and vein, respectively. Then, the left kidney was also exposed retro-peritoneally and with the aid of an operation microscope, a branch of the sympathetic nerves to the kidney was dissected free and placed on a fine stainless steal bipolar electrode A thermocouple (copper-constantan) was placed in the intra-abdominal space for the measurement of core body temperature. The electrodes for the measurements of electroencephalogram and electromusculargram were also implanted. At least 2 days after the recovery period, experiment started. This methods allows us to study the effect of the changes in life style including meal, environmental temperature, sleep time, on the cardiovascular, autonomic and energy metabolism functions.
