English Writing Instruction that Could be Reflected in L1 Writing-Aiming at Verifying Multi-Competence Theory-

本研究旨在验证多元能力理论在日语写作教育中的应用。Cook（2001）主张通过学习外语，学习者还可以扩展他们的母语能力。也就是说，多元能力将在学生的思想中形成。这项研究表明，在接受了如何用英语写段落/文章的指导后，日本学生在日语写作中表现出更有条理、更有逻辑的文章。

This study aimed at verifying multi-competence theory in Japanese writing education. Cook (2001) advocates that through learning a foreign language, learners can also expand their ability in their mother tongue. That is to say, multi-competence will be formed in the students' minds. This study demonstrated that Japanese students exhibited better-organized, more logically written passages in their Japanese writing after they received instruction on how to write paragraphs/ essays in English.
