Using dioxygen in air as the oxidant for chemical transformations is highly desirable, because it is environmentally friendly and inexpensive. However, because of its inertness dioxygen needs to be activated by metal compounds to perform oxidations. The goal of our research is to develop metal catalysts to activate dioxygen for oxidation reactions. The successful results from our research may transform the chemical, petrochemical, and pharmaceutical industries. In this proposal, we request an inert atmosphere glovebox workstation to support this research.
