After the liberation from Japanese colonial rule,Korea was unfortunately divided into two parts,South and North. Educational reform in South Korea has been influenced from the so-called democratic "American Model".On the other hand that of North Korea was derived from the socialistic "Soviet Model". During 1950s,especially after the Korean War,the main theme of educational reform of both sides was reconstruction of educational buildings and facilities.However during 1960-70s an initiative of educational reform was taken by themselves,resulting in forming an independent model. The Republic of Korea (South) put emphasis on national identity and traditional values in her educational practices and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea established Kim Il-Song doctrine of "chuche principle" which penetrated all the educational planning and activities.It was very difficult to carry out a comparative analysis of both sides because of difficulty obtaining the primary sources of North Korean educational reform.

朝鲜从日本殖民统治下解放出来后，不幸地被分成了南北两部分。韩国的教育改革受到了所谓的民主“美国模式”的影响，而朝鲜的教育改革则来自于社会主义的“苏联模式”。在20世纪50年代，特别是朝鲜战争后，双方教育改革的主旋律是教育建筑和设施的重建，但在1960-70年代，双方都主动进行了教育改革，形成了一个独立的模式。韩国在教育实践中强调民族认同和传统价值观，朝鲜民主主义人民共和国确立了贯穿于所有教育规划和活动的金日成“初心原则”学说，很难对双方进行比较分析，因为很难获得朝鲜教育改革的主要来源。
