项目摘要

昨年度に引き続き、史資料の調査・収集を行い、収集した諸資料に基づきながら、佐藤政権時代の日米安全保障関係に関する日米両国政府の協議過程を考察した。そのうえで、考察した部分に関する公表の準備を行った。史資料に関しては、米国国立公文書館において調査・収集した文書から、当該テーマにかかわる重要事実の整理を行った。これについては、国務省文書およびニクソン大統領文書を中心に作業を行った。そのほか、外務省外交史料館、東京大学法学部附属近代日本法政史料センター原資料部などにおいて、一次資料の調査および複写による収集を行った。これらの作業を踏まえたうえで、前年度から継続して進めていた、1964年11月から1967年11月までの時期に関する考察を行った。これに関しては、前年度にある程度考察を行っていたが、今年度は、不十分な部分を中心に修正と資料的な補完を行った。また、同時に、1968年の国内政治過程に関する考察を行った。1968年は、とくに在日米軍問題に関する関心が高まった時期であり、この問題に関する日米の協議内容を考察した。さらに、今年度後期に、佐藤政権時代の後半部分の時期に関して、収集した一次資料から日米協議の過程を考察した。なお、当該テーマにかかわる研究内容に関しては、フォーラムや研究会などで、報告および議論を行う機会を得た。また、1967年11月までの時期における、日米の協議、交渉の過程に関しては、研究成果の一部として公表した。

The investigation and collection of historical data in the past year have been reviewed by the Japanese government in relation to the safety and security relations of the Sato era.
