We evaluated the expression of exocrine progenitor genes and cancerstem cells markers in pancreatic cancer. CD44-positive cells were enriched after preoperative chemo-radiation therapy (CRT). Pdx1 positive tumors tended to limit to pancreas after CRT. There was no correlation between expression of Pdx1 and CD44. CD44-positive tumors without expression of Pdx1 were poor prognosis. These results suggested that transfection of exocrine progenitor genes may decrease its malignant behavior in pancreatic cancer.
