项目摘要

本研究は、ボツワナ共和国のカラハリ地域でブッシュマンの1グループによって話されている、グイ語(中部コイサン語族)が有する極めて複雑な子音組織の理解のために、この組織を特徴付ける4つのクリック種、13種類のクリック伴音、4つの“軟口蓋化"歯茎閉鎖音([tx,tx',tsx、tsx'])、またこれらの音韻分析に直接関連する口蓋垂摩擦音と軟口蓋側面破察放出音の音響的特徴を、CSL-Computerized Speech Labを用いて分析した。その結果は、これまで私が行ってきた伝統的な主観的音声観察に主に基づく記述を大筋では支持し、それに音声的詳細に関する新たな事実を付加するものであった。細かい点では再考や修正に有益であった(たとえば破擦的放出伴音における喉頭の調節に関する推測に関して)。本研究の結果の一部として、すでに、Nakagawa,H.(1998)Unnatural Palatalization in Gui and Gana?Quellen zur Khoisan-Forschung 15,245-263で非クリック子音に関する議論を、また中川裕(1998)「コサイン諸語のクリック子音の記述的枠組み」『音声研究』ではクリック子音の記述に関する議論を、さらにNakagawa,H(1998)A cluster analysis of clicks and their accompaniments,Linguisitics and Phonetics 98(Sept.1998,Ohaio State University)ではクリック子音および“軟口蓋化"歯茎閉鎖音の新子音クラスター解釈の可能性を、それぞれ報告した。本研究の結果の主要部分にあたる子音組織全体の詳細な記述は現在進めているところである。そこでは、クリック子音と非クリック子音とを統一的に記述し分類するのに妥当な弁別特徴に関しても議論をする予定である。
